What a joy it was to be within Solange Azagury Partridge’s new brand temple a couple of weeks ago as a crew member, creating a stop-start animation film for her new collection Metamorphosis, all in colourful tandem alongside the official launch of her new London retail ‘home’ in Carlos Place.
Solange likes to keep it in the family, which has the effect of crystallizing her unique vision even further into the outer realms of imagination.
Like it is with most wonderful imagery, there wasn’t much fuss and over-analyzing over concepts, moodboards and casting. Solange wanted Laura and I to do it, we said yes immediately, she described the make-up (“black elongated eyes, kind of Egyptian….” and hair, we turned up and did it and it was all shot in a relaxed and laid-back afternoon.
Leigh Keates, a fabulous hairdresser from Josh Wood’s London Atelier had the pleasure of playing with perhaps the best mane in London..
Solange imagined Laura’s hair to be triangular, so Leigh teased, rolled and ‘poofed ‘ until her hair did just that.
I used a mixture of Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation in 20 & 30, I love this foundation as it’s very good for coverage with glow plus its very moisturising.
Then Bobbi Brown concealers (corrector in Peach Bisque & Creamy Concealer in Sand) were ‘patted on’ in peachy tones to brighten the area around Laura’s eyes, used Chanel’s new Cream Blush in Presage and set the whole thing with Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder.
By the time I lined her eyes in a Veroushka-meet’s Deneuve as Cleopatra with a L’Oreal Superliner Pen , Laura was ready for the brilliant Danny Kleinman Jnr & Abe Buckoke of Dollhouse Films to start ‘filming’ her in stop-start style, ready to become content for their animation.
