My indefinably-creative young friend, Bwalya Newton describes Afrofuturism as ‘a movement that strives to give identity to a culture whose past has been lost though colonialism and slavery’ and that ‘the concerted efforts of artists of different disciplines, walks of life and genders come together to create a history of parables that encourage a displaced community to look forward.’
