I’ve been a fan of Nude Skincare ever since it was founded by Bryan Meehan and Ali Hewson in 2007 and believe that even if you’re not an advocate for ‘natural skincare’, that most of us will at one time or another find the need for gentler products, and perhaps adopt them into our skincare somehow.
After all, who hasn’t had irritated skin, or dry and sore lips? This is the where the door to the world of natural skincare often opens, and where many people who want relief and results will find themselves.
Not convinced? What if I asked you if you’d prefer perfumed petrochemicals on that little patch of itchy, inflamed skin or something so natural you could practically eat it, maybe that might?
If it’s the lack of ‘technological breakthroughs’ or the worthy packaging that’s put you off natural skincare then perhaps I can still turn you to the natural side of the force because this area of skincare has had a total facelift.
Gone are the days of heavy, wheatgerm oil-based creams that smelled of bran that were everything but luxurious and often too unrefined to be non-comedegenic (non pore-clogging).
Now it’s all about technology being embraced to produce naturally-derived ingredients that benefit the skin in a more holistic way than the petrochemicals ever could, with ethical business practises as an integral part of a whole business structure.
Thandie and I met up with co-founder Bryan Meehan
What was also clear to us was how very much cheaper it would have been for Nude to use the usual petrochemical suspects and forget the ethics in the ethos.
Clearly a labour of love which started with one simple question: Why can’t healthy, natural skincare be high performance skincare?
Because our skin is the largest organ in our body, nutrition is as essential for our outside (which absorbs and ingests substances) as it is for our body.
Bryan and his founding partner Ali Hewson have championed unique formulas based on ingredients the body needs and understands: a precisely balanced diet of omegas, minerals, probiotics and antioxidants all rooted in ‘high-performance nutrition’.
The R&D (research and development) continues to be a major aspect of their brand, developing new-school formulas for old-school problems.
The texture melts at body temperature and it’s rich organic butters (Tahitian vanilla monoi don’t you know) mix perfectly with lipsticks to create the perfect tinted lipbalm.
If my skin feels and looks lacklustre, I’ll use the Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask with fig, honey omega 6 & 9 and cupuacu butter after giving my face a good wash (I use a muslin cloth every night with warm water and foaming cleanser) or, if if it’s an sos (save our skin) situation, the exfoliator may come out! These two steps used in conjunction give you bouncy-looking, baby-soft skin.
Another nourishing treatment with 10 active plant oils enriched with omegas 3, 6, 7 & 9 is the Pro Genius Omega Treatment Oil which can be used on it’s own, or after a serum or moisturiser depending on how dehydrated your skin is.
