It’s been a whirlwind for Thandie this last few months and while I type, Thandie is flying from L.A, to Toronto to shoot Season 3 of Rogue. Just before saying bye to the kids this morn, I got her to give me the skinny on the FABULOUS MAKE-UP job she did at the Vanity Fair/Oscars party last night.
Thandie has beyond mastered the smokiest eyes in town and I’ve decided to be big about it-I’m letting go of how much she didn’t need me (at all) and I wasn’t going to let her disappear into the on-set ether without telling you how she got that look.
Unlike most on this night, Thandie had to put her look together fast. Straight from wrapping on NBC’s The Slap in NYC and she was on a plane to London for a mere 24 hours (her screenwriter husband Ol had The Second Marigold Hotel Royal premiere).
Then, due to ‘unforeseen circumstances of designer dress’, Thandie landed in LA to find herself (in a red carpet sense ) with nothing to wear. Enter stage right, Oscar winning Costume Designer Coleeen Atwood –who rather conveniently happens to be a mate- to save the day. Coleen sent Thandie off to L.A’s cornucopia of clothing The Western Costume House, which turned out to be the kind of place that had enough dresses to make Cinderella so late for the ball that she decided it was best to create a fashion blog instead.
Eve Lom Radiant Lift Foundation in Honey
Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in 04 painted on under eye circles and edges (for more details on the most effective way to apply, see our easy concealer post)
..then apply Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in 83 Illusoire with your finger over the top – loads of it! It’s surprisingly easy to apply and is one of our FAVOURITE products for red carpet and evening make-up looks.
Estee Lauder Doublewear Mascara, Anastasia Brow Powder (along with Eyeko Browgel to subtly widen, raise and accentuate brows in a modern, ‘uncarved’, less stencilled way) finish off those peepers and brows!
Apply Bobbi Brown Loose Powder 3 Golden Orange
on the ‘T Zone’ to ensure than the dewyness stays on the eyes, lips and cheeks-not on the forehead, nose and chin.
We LOVE Becca because (like Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier) it’s a high quality brand, available at global department stores, that acknowledges ALL skintones!
Thandie used a combo of old favourite Tancho Hair Wax (see our post on it) and Frederic Fekkai Hairspray to keep all the strays smooth and controlled.
