Jamaican-British stylist Savannah Baker originally designed her own socks for herself and friends. She was on a job in Japan and during her free time in Harajuku, she began searching for statement socks for her styling gear. She noticed they were all very ‘Lolita ‘and childish, not quite the fashion accessory she was hunting for.
Inspired by her life in Jamaica and time in Japan, Savannah got some simple socks, the perfect lace and begin making what would later become Pum Pum Socks, a simple accessory to pull a look together. She then used them on shoots that she styled for clients such as Lana Del Ray and Rita Ora.
Savannah and Gemma, both of island origins were childhood friends and reconnected on a shoot in London 2013 to bring Pum Pum Socks to the world.
They both feel the Jamaican dance hall scene is very male orientated and wanted to take the word back for the females.
