When Thandie posted this cute #SayHerName-selfie on the way to the Essence ‘Black Women in Hollywood’ luncheon last week, I emailed her straight away and said what make-up were you wearing, we gotta tell our readers!
I’ve been doing this a lot with my actresses in the last year, there’s just something about the way a bright watermelon, coral or pink can ‘uplift’ the smoulder. You can’t beat a smoky eye, it’s always been cool, it always will be-but sometimes, especially when you’re wearing black, it can all be a bit gloomy.
So in the same way that us ladies might pop in that unexpected colour with a fluoro handbag or shoes to a LBD or jeans n’ sweatshirt, why not see your lipstick as that contrasting accessory-for your face?
Here, Thandie is wearing one of her go-to favourite eye-poppin’ lip colours, Lady Danger by Mac.
We found another really unexpected shade on a thandiekay shoot we did before Thandie went back to LA but we’re keeping it secret…

This lipstick is an absolute classic amongst models and actresses. I can’t count the times I’ve asked ‘I love that lipstick-what is it?’ only to find that it’s good old Lady Danger by Mac, a lipstick that hasn’t left my kit in years.
Amber Anderson is both an actress and a model, we work together a lot and last night we were at Claridges (for drinks with other Lady Danger-wearing ladies like our friend Erin O’Connor) and I took this snap of her within the floral walls of their gorgeous powder room.
When it comes to statement lips, this long-lasting, tangy red is a major must-have plus it’s great on many skintones.
