There are many experts online who provide varying advice on how to clean and maintain luxury vinyl flooring, and not every bit of advice is suitable for your specific brand.
It is always recommended to discuss with your vinyl brand supplier any ready guides they may have for the particular brand you have bought. Due to Luvanto luxury vinyl flooring being that little bit more durable than other flooring options, there are general guidelines to cleaning your floor and what to avoid doing to keep it healthy.
Use Household Items
A regular household mop, non-suction vacuum and broom will not affect the performance of your flooring. Microfiber cloths and liquid cleaning solutions are also welcome cleaning options.
You will need to think about certain items that could damage the surface of your flooring; especially metal bristle brushes and steel wool. Although LVT has a thicker layer and anti-scratch technologies, it can only handle so much abuse. Therefore, you must avoid soaking your floor with water or leaving puddles for long periods as they have the highest risk of affecting the solidarity of your floor, which means the adhesive can weaken from water left for too long.
Cleaning After Installation
It’s important not to clean your floor straight away, especially if you have tiles just put down and not fully bonded yet. Clean away all leftover adhesive around the tiles straight away but ideally, the floor needs to be left for 48 hours to set it in place, ensuring no water upsets the work you have already done. Your first pass should be done with a dry sweeping or dust mop.
After 48 hours, use a microfiber mop and a liquid cleaner diluted with the proper amount of water. Remember to rinse the mop quite often to do away with any contaminants that can still affect the floor.
Above all else, do not apply water straight to the floor. Use your cleaning products to do the work and avoid extensive water damage.
Staying on Top
No matter how much traffic your room gets over a day, regular cleaning is required to keep the floor in its best condition for much longer.
Dry dust is easily removable with a mop or brush and can be done quickly and not take up a big part of each day. Stubborn things like dirt trampled in from outside will require a wipe and quick clean with warm soapy water in most cases, remembering there should not be instances of soaking the floor no matter how bad the stains look.
There are many ways and products to protect and maintain your luxury vinyl flooring, however, some may differ depending on your brand of flooring. Most retailers and suppliers will have brand cleaning guidebooks to help maintain their specific flooring that is available upon asking.
Always consult with whoever you buy your luxury vinyl flooring to ensure everything is done according to brand guidelines.
