5 Refrigerator Maintenance Tips You Need to Know

May 9, 2022 · Cherry · Leave a Comment

There’s something amazing about a cold drink right out of the fridge. It’s even better when it’s your own homemade drink!

Frigidaire known as Refrigerators are a fantastic invention — they ensure that our drinks are cold, our food is preserved, and they give us a place to store our leftovers! But, even the best inventions need some TLC to run at their best.

Are you interested in learning more about fridge care maintenance?

Read on for our top refrigerator maintenance tips.

1. Clean The Coils

Clean the coils: Dust and dirt can build up on the coils, making your fridge work harder than it needs to. Vacuum the coils with the brush attachment to keep them clean.

2. Check Door Seals

One of the most important refrigerator maintenance tips is to check door seals. Over time, door seals can become loose or cracked, which can lead to air leakage and poor cooling. To check door seals, simply close the door on a piece of paper and see if you can pull the paper out easily.

If so, the seal needs to be replaced.

3. Don’t Overload The Fridge

In order to keep your fridge running smoothly, it’s important to keep it from becoming overloaded. An overloaded fridge can lead to problems with the cooling system, which can, in turn, lead to spoiled food. To avoid this, follow these simple tips:

  • Keep an eye on the temperature. An overcrowded fridge can cause the temperature to rise, which can spoil food.
  • Check the shelves and drawers regularly to make sure they’re not overloaded.
  • Don’t put hot food directly into the fridge. Let it cool down first to avoid raising the temperature inside.
  • If possible, store food in airtight containers to keep it fresh longer.

By following these simple tips, you can avoid problems with your fridge and keep your food fresh and safe to eat.

4. Clean The Inside Of The Fridge Regularly

You should clean the inside of your fridge regularly to prevent foodborne illness and keep your fridge working efficiently. Here are some ways for cleaning your fridge:

  • Throw out any expired food or food that has gone bad.
  • Wipe down the interior walls and shelves with a mild soap and water solution.
  • Use a soft cloth or sponge to avoid scratching the surfaces.
  • Dry the surfaces with a clean towel.
  • Try to clean spills as soon as they happen.

Cleaning your fridge regularly by replacing the frigidaire water filter will help it stay fresh and clean, and will prevent you from getting sick.

The refrigerator water filters use carbon and have an average rating of 20 microns, meaning they mostly remove contaminants that affect taste and smell.

5. Don’t Put Hot Food Directly To The Fridge

If you’ve ever put a hot dish straight from the oven into the fridge, you may have been surprised to find a puddle of water on the shelf below it later. Put hot food in the fridge, and you risk raising the temperature inside, which not only makes your fridge have to work harder, but also provides the perfect environment for bacteria to grow.

To avoid foodborne illness and keep your fridge running efficiently, let your dishes cool down before putting them away.

Refrigerator Maintenance Is Important

Refrigerator Maintenance is key to keeping your food fresh and preventing costly repairs. Use these tips to keep your fridge running efficiently.
