5 Tips for Maintaining Bathroom Floors

February 2, 2022 · Cherry · Leave a Comment

Cleaning and maintaining a bathroom is probably one of the worst household tasks, but having a pristine bathroom afterward is definitely worth the hassle. Bathroom floors are sometimes overlooked when it comes to bathroom maintenance since baths, sinks, and toilets take up most of your time, but taking care of your floors is just as important.

Keep reading for five tips to keep your bathroom floor in tip-top shape.

1) Clean Your Grout

Grout cleaning is essential if you want your floors to sparkle. Using a stiff-bristled brush, warm soapy water, and a bit of elbow grease, you’ll be able to whiten the lines between your grout again. You might need to buy a grout cleaning product for tougher stains or look into some DIY grout whitening solutions.

2) Use A Steam Cleaner

If you can use a steam cleaner to clean your bathroom, definitely jump on the opportunity. Steam can quickly kill 99.99 percent of germs and bacteria, which makes it a great way to disinfect your bathroom. In addition, the steam penetrates the pores and cracks in any surface, which forces out dirt, grease, and other stain-causing substances.

3) Soap Scum And Hard Water Stains

Soap scum residue and hard water stains are two of the most frustrating aspects of cleaning a bathroom. Luckily two household items are perfect for getting rid of these pesky stains: cooking spray and lemon.

If you spray cooking spray on soap scum and let it sit for a few minutes, the oil in the spray will cut through the soap scum, making it easy to clean. Similarly, if you put lemon on hard water stains, the acid in the lemon will eat the stain away.

4) Keep The Floors Dry

While bathrooms tend to be wet and damp, simply wiping your floors dry after you’ve used the bathroom will keep mold and mildew away. You can also switch on fans and open windows to keep the area well ventilated. As a bonus, your floors will no longer be slippery, and you won’t have wet feet or socks.

5) Invest In Vinyl Bathroom Floors

Vinyl floors have come a long way since they were first introduced to us. Vinyl flooring is made from durable, water-resistant material, which makes it an ideal low-maintenance flooring option in bathrooms.

Vinyl is easy to install, unlike porcelain and ceramic tiles. Porcelain and ceramic tiles also require cutting tools, grout, and mortar before they can be installed. The best part about vinyl flooring is you can install it yourself if you want to.

Vinyl is also an extremely low maintenance option when it comes to cleaning, a regular sweep and mop is all it needs to look as good as new.

Beat The Grime

Knowing how to properly maintain your bathroom floors will take the task from being the most dreaded task to a relatively simple and routine one. Bathroom floor stains, soap scum, and dirty grout is a thing of the past now that you have the tips and tricks needed to keep your bathroom floor pristine.
