All about the Microneedling Cost: A Guide

Does pricking your skin with tiny needles sound more like therapy or torture? While it might seem like a surprising method, that’s exactly what microneedling entails.

This is a cosmetic procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing your skin with small, sterilized needles. The action stimulates collagen production and can be used to treat a variety of concerns from scars to large pores.

Curious about the process but concerned about the price? Today, we’re breaking down the different factors that will contribute to your bottom-line microneedling cost.

The Method You Choose

There are a few different varieties of microneedling, and each will vary in terms of cost. The cheapest solution is to purchase a microneedle roller to replicate the process at home.

These are easy to find online and in stores, and you can start using them right away. They’re ideal for treating minor skin concerns, such as fine lines.

If you choose to visit a professional for an in-office microneedling session, the price will vary depending on the services you request. You can expect to pay a little more to add the following to your visit:

  • Topical serums (e.g. hyaluronic acid)
  • Anti-scarring radiofrequency waves
  • Platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) injections

Microneedling with PRP can target age-related skin concerns on a deeper level. By injecting PRP into damaged skin tissue, you can encourage cellular turnover and promote healing. This is typically the most expensive add-on that most microneedling offices will provide.

Want to lower your costs? You can achieve a similar effect with other types of cosmetic treatments, such as hydrafacial services. Ask your provider to explain your options before you commit.

The Provider You Visit

Your price will also depend on the specific healthcare provider you visit. Providers in high-demand areas and big cities can typically charge more for their services than those in rural areas.

Ask your provider if there are any payment plans you can initiate to make your visit more affordable. While microneedling is considered cosmetic and usually isn’t covered by insurance, you may be able to spread your payments apart to make them more affordable.

Not sure which provider to pick? Ask to see a few before and after microneedling pictures to help you gauge how your own experience might go.

The Surface Area You Treat

Finally, you’ll need to consider the surface area on your body that you want to treat. Naturally, microneedling under eyes will cost less than the same treatment on your back.

Your provider will charge for the amount of time they have to spend on your treatment, as well as the number of serums or other products they use. To keep costs low, consider only tackling the areas that concern you the most.

Usually, face treatments are the least expensive. You can use microneedling to address and remediate a variety of complexion concerns, including:

  • Acne scarring
  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines
  • Age spots or sunspots
  • Texture irregularity

On other parts of your body, such as your stomach or thighs, you can use microneedling to address issues like stretch marks, but the price will be higher.

Calculate Your Microneedling Cost

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all price for this service. Rather, your total microneedling cost will depend on where you go, who you see, and the specific treatment you pursue.

Make sure to ask your provider to explain all of the fees associated with your treatment before you begin. This way, you can avoid any surprises and budget accordingly.
