How to Create a Relaxing Bedroom Sanctuary

January 6, 2022 · Cherry · Leave a Comment

Are you hoping to create a relaxing bedroom sanctuary that encourages rest and relaxation? Creating a bedroom retreat can allow you a sacred space to unwind so that you can work towards relieving stress and getting a good night’s sleep.

If you want to make your personal space and bedroom one that allows for comfort and calm, keep reading. Make sure your bedroom is a place where you feel most comfortable by checking out the tips and tricks in this guide.

Nesting Neutrals

When creating an ambiance and overall feel of a room, the color scheme you choose is a great place to start. When decorating a space that you intend for relaxation, sticking to a neutral color scheme is best, as these colors can evoke feelings of calm. You want to stick with simple and soft colors that will allow you to unwind.

Muted color tones such as creams, light tans, sage, and light greys can all be great options that also allow for easy decorating. Not only do these colors play well together, but they also allow you to make easy changes in decor along the way. You want to avoid overly fussy decore or bright patterns and instead opt for simple pieces that are not overstimulating.

Integrate the Right Materials

A neutral color palette may sound boring, but there are plenty of ways to make a calming bedroom both stylish and comfortable. To add some character and comfort, you want to make sure to add the right amount of the right kinds of materials such as textures and fabrics. This allows you to add some detail and dimension to your space.

A great place to start is to add details with throw pillows and throw blankets or comforters. You want to make sure that you are keeping these added textiles soft and cozy for a plush feel that will promote feelings of rest and relaxation. If you want to add some color, consider adding some velvet or faux fur throw pillows in soft shades such as pastel pinks, mints, or blues.

You might think of adding satin textures or adding woven objects such as area rugs for some added texture and warmth. Using natural materials can also work to balance out the feeling of softness with something more concrete. For example, adding stone or marble tables can allow this room to feel more grounded.

Straw or wooden materials can also help to add some more texture and interest while still keeping with a light and neutral color scheme. Think outside of the box with your decor by adding netting around the bed for some added seclusion. Shop for a mosquito net for bed at the link.
