Tips for Better Sleep With Long Hair

June 20, 2022 · Cherry · Leave a Comment

If you have long hair, chances are that you know how frustrating it is to try and sleep with it. If you go to sleep with your hair down, you might end up with it tangled all over, and that can result in lots of breakage and tearing. It can even cause pulling on your hair in the middle of the night, which can wake you up. If you’re looking to get better sleep and you have long hair, there are many options. Here are four of them.

1. Invest in a Silk Pillowcase

Silk or satin is by far the best material for sleep products. It results in less breakage and less damage to your hair, and by resting your head on a silk pillowcase at night, you’re more likely to see healthier, well-growing hair over time. While silk pillowcases can be expensive, they’re a great starting point for healthier hair over time.

2. Consider a Sleep Bonnet

While most people with curly hair already know all the benefits of a sleep bonnet, many people with straight hair have never tried. This is often because when you have short and straight hair, or even medium-length and straight hair, you likely don’t need one. However, as your hair gets longer and longer, a sleep bonnet can be a great way to keep it out of your face while you sleep.

3. Gather Your Hair Up Before You Lay Down

Another option instead of a sleep bonnet is simply to gather up your hair. Gather it into a low-impact style that doesn’t pull at your scalp and won’t get in the way while you’re sleeping, like a loose bun high on your head or loose braids. Try to avoid elastic hair ties, instead opting for either a fabric tie or a spiral tie, so you can avoid any amount of damage due to the hair tie itself.

4. Don’t Sleep With Wet Hair

If you go to sleep with your hair wet, not only may you find that it’s very difficult to dry your hair overnight, sometimes resulting in half-damp hair once you wake up, but you also put yourself at a higher risk of hair issues like breakage and styling concerns. Hair is in its most vulnerable state when it’s wet, and that’s why you need to be careful with it when wet. However, you may want to use some Ulta coupons on leave-in treatments that you can use overnight. Just apply them when your hair is wet or if it’s fully dry just before you go to bed.

Conclusion

Long hair doesn’t have to interrupt your sleep. It’s totally possible to get a good night’s sleep without damaging your hair or worrying about breakage. Instead, consider these four tips for better sleep and better hair health.
